Your panel and service are where all the power for your home or building comes in. When a panel is old, full, or too small for what you want to add, like an EV charger, a heat pump, a shop or an ADU, a panel or service upgrade is often the fix. Sometimes a smaller change is enough, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case.
What we do
- Panel replacementsLike-for-like change-outs and upgrades to a larger panel, including older fuse boxes and panel brands that are worth replacing.
- Service upgradesLarger service (often to 200 amps), new meter/main combos and new service masts.
- SubpanelsSubpanels for garages, shops, additions and ADUs.
- Whole-house surge protectionA surge protective device at the panel.
- Load checksA look at what you have and what you want to add, before anything is ordered.

From our jobs

How the job goes
- 1Call or send a quote request
Tell us what you have and what you want to add. Photos of the panel and meter help.
- 2Free estimate
We look at the panel, the service and what you plan to add, and give you a clear estimate.
- 3Permit and PG&E application
We pull the permit. When the service is changing, the request goes to PG&E through its Your Projects portal, and PG&E checks whether its side can support the new load.
- 4Install day
PG&E disconnects the power, we install the new equipment, and the work is inspected.
- 5Reconnect and walkthrough
PG&E reconnects, we label the panel, clean up and walk you through it.
Permits, inspections and PG&E
Inside Auburn city limits, electrical permits come from the City of Auburn Building Division, which takes permit applications online. In unincorporated areas, such as North Auburn, it’s Placer County Building Services. Elsewhere it’s that city or county’s building department. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and meet the inspector.
When you increase your load or upgrade your panel, PG&E asks for an application through Your Projects, with permits uploaded where they apply. PG&E assigns a job owner who reaches out within five business days, and it covers certain utility-side costs, such as distribution transformers and metering equipment. We prepare and track that application with you.

Common questions
Do I need a permit to replace my panel?
Yes. Panel replacements and service upgrades need an electrical permit from your city or county, and the work is inspected. We pull the permit and meet the inspector.
Do you handle PG&E?
Yes. When the meter has to be pulled or the service changed, we coordinate the disconnect, reconnect and the PG&E application for you.
Do I need a bigger panel for an EV charger?
Not always. Many homes can add a Level 2 charger without a bigger panel. We check your panel and the load first and tell you honestly.
How long will the power be off?
Usually for part of one day while the new equipment is installed and inspected. We’ll go over the plan with you before the day.
