From our Google reviews
I appreciate the time Walter takes to make sure we understand the issue and if we have any concerns. I like that safety is always top of mind!
Absolutely recommend IES they were quick to answer the phone. Walter was able to quickly come out and diagnose and fix the problem we were having with a fault in one of our circuits. Very professional, thorough and clean. We will be using them going forward.
IES helped us with two projects on our rural property. Walter and his team did excellent work, prioritizing safety and making everything function properly and look nice. We now have a dedicated circuit for our travel trailer and a 240v set up for the sauna. Very responsive and able to get on the schedule next day for the travel trailer project which was more of an emergency. Highly recommend IES!

Good to know about electrical work in Auburn
Permits: City of Auburn or Placer County?
Panel changes, service upgrades, new circuits and EV chargers usually need a permit. Which office issues it depends on where the property sits, not on the mailing address. An “Auburn, CA” address can be inside city limits or out in unincorporated Placer County, such as North Auburn.
Inside Auburn city limits
City of Auburn Building Division
- Permit applications are taken online (how to apply).
- City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn.
- Building office hours are Monday to Thursday; the office is closed Fridays.
Unincorporated Placer County
Placer County Building Services
- Covers the unincorporated areas of the county, such as North Auburn.
- 3091 County Center Drive, Auburn.
- Permits and inspection requests can be handled online through the county’s eServices portal.
Not sure which one you’re in? Just give us the address and we’ll check. Either way, we pull the permit, schedule the inspection and meet the inspector. Do I need an electrical permit?
Older foothill homes
Many homes around Auburn and the foothills are decades old. It’s common to find fuse boxes, older panel brands, ungrounded two-prong outlets or original wiring that has been added onto over the years. None of that means something is wrong, but it’s worth a look before you add big loads. Problem panel brands · Knob-and-tube wiring
PG&E coordination
Auburn is served by PG&E. When a job means the meter has to be pulled or the service changed, we coordinate the disconnect, reconnect and any utility approvals with PG&E for you.
Wildfire season and outages
Foothill neighborhoods can lose power during storms and PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs. A generator inlet with an interlock, a standby generator or a home battery can keep the essentials running, safely, without back-feeding the lines. Please never plug a generator into a wall outlet.
